Putting Off the Old Man, And Putting On the New Man:
“That you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; ... And that you put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”(Ephesians 4:22,24)
As we face the New Year, let us also consider the work that God is doing in our lives to make us into a new creation from our former life style. Paul lists off many of the characteristics that we must put off and exchange for our new characteristics.
“Putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor ... Be angry and sin not:” (vs 25) “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor working with his hands ... that he may have to give to give to him that needs.” (vs 28) “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying,” (vs 29) “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” (vs 32)
Roy Ralph, Overcomer Ministries, Springfield, Missouri: Roy Ralph and his wife, Nancy, have just returned for a four week mission trip to Indonesia. They helped to officiate at a wedding and to celebrate Christmas and the New Year with them. They also ministered in various churches and prayed and prophesied over a number of people. The Lord really blessed as He opened up the hearts of many pastors as they prayed over them and spoke to the need in their lives. It was a wonderful trip. Ralph is an associate pastor at the Fountain of Life (House of Prayer) and secretary for O.W.M. in Springfield.
Joseph Mugo, Omega Pentecostal Churches, Kenya: Mugo writes that the Omega church in Kavote has grown after the youth convention. Mugo was able to hold a pastor’s seminar in Chuka district, and he officiated at three marriages. After their youth convention in December, both Mugo and his wife fell sick for almost the whole month from spending all day in Kavote. They are continuing to pray that God will provide the right and proper land for the headquarters church. Mugo is so thankful. Words may not be enough to explain, but he and his people are so thankful for us here.
Kalembelembe Bible Institute, Fizi, Congo: Ekyoci Eciba reports that fifteen students finished the First Trimester of 2016/17. Eciba reports that some of the students are being filled with the Holy Spirit. Funds were sent for the salaries of the director, the three teachers, the secretary, and the guard. Funds were also sent for a mattress, blanket and sheets, and for plastic plates, cups and spoons, and cutlery. Please pray for more support for this Bible school, for Eciba’s health, and for the spiritual growth for the students.
Ralph & Shirley Hagemeier and Stephanie, Kalemie, Congo: Ralph writes, “Through faith we understand”. My first year in Bible college I wanted to see my future. But as I prayed, God spoke to my heart, “I will lead you a step at a time.” I was satisfied and have been since then; that was 1958. ... I believe that God still has more of His unknown plan that He will fulfill through us. Encourage yourself as David did that God also knew you before your birth and has great thins ahead for you.
Buulu Msimbwe Andre, C.A.D.A.F., Kalemie, Congo: For two months, Buulu has been minister-ing in Lubumbashi, Likasi, and Kolwezi, then Kamina and Kongolo. Buulu has preached in churches, and taught pastor’s seminars. Several government officials have visited his meetings. He thanks us for the financial support that has been sent to him.
Radio Kahuzi, Richard McDonald, Bukavu, Congo: Two of our friends and partners at Son Set Solutions have masterfully designed two short wave antennas for two new sites for our long distance broadcasting from the city of Bukavu. The Lord is good, in that our outreach coverage area actually doubled into Rwanda and Uganda and Tanzania.
Masangu Lwenyke, Church of the Good Shepherd, Kalemie, Congo: Pas. Masangu writes that the balcony has been poured for their permanent church building. Now the second storey is ready for construction. Please pray that the Lord will continue to provide the funds necessary to finish.
